Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is an industry term referring to the overall air quality within and around buildings, structures and residences as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants.

IAQ can be affected by microbial contaminants such as bacteria and molds, gases (including radon gases, various organic compounds, carbon monoxide, other containments that can induce adverse health conditions in people and animals. Indoor air quality is becoming more concerning as a health hazard than outdoor air.

Using proper ventilation to dissipate or dilute various contaminants, enhanced air filtration, inducing fresh air into the occupied space and contaminant source control are the primary methods for improving indoor air quality in most buildings, structures and residences.

According to Health Canada (www.hc-sc.gc.ca),  we spend close to 90% of our time inside; at home, at work and in recreational environments. Most people, however, are unaware of the effects that poor indoor air quality can have on their health.

The Comfort Specialists at Hallman & Dittmer Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. understand these concerns and we offer a variety of methods to improve your Indoor Air Quality, helping you protect your indoor environment. We will cover a few things here on this page, such as typesof enhanced filtration devices and fresh air induction equipment, yet feel free to contact us at any time and we will be happy to assist you.

Trane Clean Effects Air Cleaner

Electronic Type Air Cleaner- with no need to be enhanced by additional replacement Media Filters!

Advanced technology makes Trane CleanEffects™ the world's most effective whole-house air filtration system.

The world’s most effective air filtration

How clean is clean? Trane CleanEffects™ delivers 8 times the amount of clean air as the typical room HEPA appliance, and 100 times the amount delivered by an ionic-type room appliance or a standard 1" filter — the kind found in 85% of homes.

More than clean air

Trane CleanEffects™ is installed as part of your heating and air conditioning system and does not require a separate fan. It is not a noisy or intrusive standalone appliance. What you get is quiet and efficient operation, and clean air throughout the whole house.

Other benefits include:

  • Minimal cleaning
  • Indicators that remind you of routine cleaning, which is as easy as vacuuming or rinsing after 3 to 9 months (depending on usage)
  • Innovative materials that increase efficiency by increasing filter surface area without blocking airflow
  • Easy installation

Worried about ozone?

Trane CleanEffects™ generates negligible amounts of ozone. Testing by Harvard-affiliated scientists has shown that as much ozone exists in a home equipped with Trane CleanEffects as the amount existing in the natural air. As a matter of fact, Trane CleanEffects™ generates less than .3 ppb (parts per billion) of ozone, well below the 50 ppb FDA limit for medical devices and significantly below some ionic-type room appliances that may reach hundreds of ppb’s.

What the experts say

The effectiveness of Trane CleanEffects™ air cleaning stands up to the tests of industry-leading experts, including research from Harvard academics.

Trane CleanEffects utilizes patented, breakthrough air cleaning technology to remove up to an astounding 99.98% of airborne allergens from the air that passes through the filter, making it 8 times more effective than even the best HEPA room filters and up to 100 times more effective than a standard 1" filter. What's more, Trane CleanEffects has been performance-tested by LMS Technologies and Environmental Health &Engineering, Inc. (EH&E), with the results verified by professors from the Harvard School of Public Health, so you know you're getting an air filtration system like no other.

LMS Technologies is a technology consulting company that specializes in air flow measurement, filtration testing and particle analysis. Environmental Health & Engineering is an environmental consulting and engineering services company that is dedicated to ensuring safe and productive environments, and is co-founded by John D. Spengler, PhD of the Department of Environmental Health at Harvard.

What is Clean Air Delivery Rate?

Clean air delivery rate is used to measure the effectiveness of air cleaning appliances. Created by the EPA, this measure is also recognized by The American Lung Association and the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers. The higher the clean air delivery rate the more effective the unit is at cleaning the room or home of airborne particles and allergens.

TIPS FOR A HEALTHIER HOME ENVIRONMENT

  • Control Dust Mites – Use anti-dust mite covers and wash sheets in hot water at least once a week; 130 degrees is recommended
  • Eliminate Mold Sources – Fix leaky pipes and keep bathroom grout clean
  • Stay Smoke-Free – Avoid non-ventilated, smoky rooms and second-hand smoke
  • Avoid Pet Dander – Keep pets off the furniture, out of the bedroom, and if necessary, consider taking the pet out of the home
  • Close Doors and Windows – Keep windows and doors shut to keep outdoor pollens, molds and irritants outside
  • Install a Whole-House Air Cleaner – Use Trane CleanEffects to remove airborne, health-damaging particles and allergens too tiny for your nose and mouth to effectively filter naturally

One of the best prescriptions is Trane CleanEffects, the industry's most effective whole-house air filtration system, capable of removing up to 99.98% of particles and allergens from the filtered air.
